Together

This project aims to foster community event exploration and organization.

My Role

  • User Research : Find breakdowns in community exploration and organization.
  • Design : Create intuitive user experiences for mobile, web and smartwatch platforms.

The problem

FOMO — Fear Of Missing Out — drives millennials experiential appetite: Nearly 7 in 10 (69%) millennials experience FOMO. Since 1987, the share of consumer spending on live experiences and events relative to total U.S. consumer spending increased by 70%.

However, both participants and the organizers are facing certain logistical barriers in building communities, that no one has yet solved definitively.

Problems faced by Participants

  • Difficulty in finding communities which match their interests and constraints.
  • Difficulty in finding events scattered around various physical and digital locations.
  • Difficulty in choosing between simultaneous or overlapping events.

Problems faced by Organizers

  • Difficulty in informing participants about the event.
  • Difficulty in publishing event updates (like time changes, location changes) to the participants.
  • Difficulty in coordinating logistics (like location, volunteers, transport etc) for an event.

Domain Research

We had conducted field studies and user interviews to know more about this domain of community exploration. We analysed this data using affinity diagrams and concept mapping.

User Requirements

We consolidated user requirements based on the patterns observed in the affinity diagram and the concept map.

Personas

Based on user requirements, we built personas and user scenarios.

Brainstorming

We brainstormed several solutions based on our personas and user scenarios.

The proposed final solution

A community-building application that scales across networked devices we use in our daily lives. This includes smartphones, tablets, laptops and smart watches and even physical branding [Visual]

The solution will be an easy and fun way for young urbanites to find events in their community and help organize their own [Logistics, usability, social/personal]

Storyboards

We story boarded several solutions to present to our stakeholders.

Wireframes

These wireframes represent our information architecture. They were also used for initial user evalutations.

High Fidelity Mockups

These mobile screens represent our visual designs for the proposed mobile application.

Contextual Smartwatch notifications

From the data, we inferred that contextual community driven smartwatch notifications will foster participation in nearby community events.

Note : This project is still progress. I am designing the website for this application.
